Thimphu

The capital city, located in the heart of Bhutan, Thimphu is considered among the most popular tourist spots in the country. Known for its beautiful blend of ancient customs with modern infrastructure, the capital city offers a great insight of the culture and traditions of the country. Beside being the major city of the country, Thimphu is among the few capital cities in the world that does not have any kind of traffic lights, instead they use traffic man to mange the vehicles in the road. Apart from all of these fascinating facts, the city is also home to numerous attractions such as Buddha Dordenma, National Folk Heritage Museum, Motithang Takin Preserve and many more.

Paro

Being home to the only airport in the country, majority of visitors arrive at Paro Valley initially, making it one of the most visited places in the country. Steeped with foggy Himalayan peaks, the valley is a filled with verdant rice fields, historic temples, and traditional farmhouses. The famous Tiger's Nest Monastery offers both a spiritual experience and stunning views making it the major highlight of the valley. The magnificent Rinpung Dzong, Drukgyel Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang, and the National Museum are other must-see locations. Paro is the ideal fusion of nature and spirituality, with mystery and serenity exposes in every part of the city. Punakha

The historic city of Punakha is placed in the junction point of two major rivers of Bhutan, The Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu which offers amazing landscapes of the verdant valleys. The place is also known for its fertile land, due to which the valley is well known for its rich agricultural base. The Punakha Dzong, located in the central part of the valley along with suspension bridge is the major attractions of the valley. Punakha with its fluttering prayer flags and mesmerising views is a gem of a place for nature lovers. Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Chimi Lhakhangand Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery are amongn the other major tourist sites of this valley.

Chele La Pass

One of Bhutan's highest motorable sites, located at a height of 4000m, Chele La Pass connects the Paro and Haa Valleys. Known for its serene landscapes, the route to the pass passes through woodlands of wildflowers, rhododendrons, and fluttering prayer flags. On clear days, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Jichu Drake and Mount Jomolhari from the peak. The pass is also home to one of the oldest nunneries of the country the serene Kila Nunnery is nestled into the cliffs beneath the pass like a hidden gem. Phuentsholing

Phuentsholing is a bustling town located in the Indo-Bhutan borderland known for its rich Bhutanese culture, vibrant environment and energetic nightlife. Being situated close to the Indian city of Jaigaon, the city offers a blend of India and Bhutan which can be seen from its culture, cuisines and architectures. Karbandi Monastery, Zangto Pelri Lhakhang, Amo Chhu Crocodile Breeding Center and Amo Chhu Suspension Bridge are some of the major attractions of the city. The place houses an immigration checkpoint at the entrance from where people can enter into Bhutan via roadways.

Phobjikha Valley

Placed in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas, Phobjikha valley is a serene place known for its landscapes and rich biodiversity. The place is also home to Gangtey monastery which create a spiritual presence across the valley attracting devotees from all over the world. The valley is known for its rich flora and fauna making it home to endangered bird species, Black-Necked Crane for which the place also hosts Black-Necked Crane Festival every year. Apart from this, the place is home to numerous trekking and hiking trails all across the valley making it a major attraction point among adventure seekers.

Haa Valley

Haa Valley, one of Bhutan's most remote and undiscovered areas, provides a genuine window into rural Bhutanese life. The valley is steeped with Alpine meadows, glistening streams, and hills clothed with pines. The twin temples, Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo stand for the harmony of virtue and evil and are considered as the spiritual core of this region. Dobji Dzong, Katsho Village are the major attractions that offers tourist to witness the charm of village life along with the rich culture of Bhutan. Trongsa

Trongsa, the historical and spiritual centre of Bhutan, is dramatically situated along the country's central valleys. Once known for being the royal family's seat of power, the spectacular Trongsa Dzongis one of Bhutan's biggest and most impressive castles. Ta Dzong, a former watchtower transformed into the Royal Heritage Museum is located directly above it which is among the major attractions of the valley. Chendebji Chorten, Kuenga Rabten Palace are some of the other major places to visit in this region.
